Appearance
The Eldrin separated a long time ago from the Elves and have evolved into a sub-species. Eldrin are tall and thin but still quite attractive as a people. The ears of an Eldrin like an Elf are long and pointed. Their fair skin is smooth. Blemishes, scars and discoloration are never seen on an Eldrin.
Attitude
Long ago Elves where divided into two camps, those that wanted to maintain the old ways with reverence for nature and those that had discovered arcane magic and saw the benefits it could provide the people. While no blood was shed the Elves split into two groups with those pursuing magic becoming the Eldrin People. Needless to say the Eldrin excel in magic and have taken advantage of it. The manufacture of golems has replaced all unskilled labor; farming, mining, construction, building repairs are all done by specialized golems. The use of golems have lead to the elimination of poverty by eliminating the need for a Eldrin to perform manual labor of any kind. This is not to say that Eldrin are not physically active, they are. And they believe in training the body as well as the mind. But such activities are secondary to their studies. Sadly the Eldrin pursuit of knowledge has developed a culture poor society. Eldrin do not write songs, poetry, or novels. The closest thing the Eldrin have to art is the clothing they wear and personal care they take in their grooming. To visitor the Eldrin appear logical and aloof. Once you show yourself to be an ally they do warm up some.
Architecture
The Eldrin people place more importance on function than on form. Cities are usually found in hilly regions to take advantage of elevation for both visual distance and defense. Buildings are deigned in a rigid box fashion with every space within maximized for the the buildings intended purpose. Work flow is improved by careful analysis which may include separation of work into other buildings. Their cities are none the less fantastic with conveniences not seen in any of cities, like; golems formed into carriages that do not need animals to pull them, Street lighting powered by crystals and streets that never ice over. Perfectly symmetrical gardens are found throughout a city at the center of which is either a gazebo or a fountain.
Leadership
The Eldrin are ruled by a council of officials that represent the populace of a specific district. The larger the city the more council members join the council. In the event there are an equal number of members and a tie breaker vote is needed the most senior member of the officials is permitted a second vote. The Eldrin once had a king and they still have noble blood lines, but the last king's advisers where able to convince him of the benefit of power being placed in the hands of the people. Even after hundreds of years this is an argument that still comes up in political discussions.
