This combination reduces a armored characters agility in combat but grants a artificial damage reduction. The different types of armor are to provide a varying degree of protection vs agility.
Like the weapons, the armor listed is for tiny creatures. For larger sizes follow the link for changes in cost, protection, etc...

Shields have long been used in combat to protect the user from both ranged and melee attacks. A shield is a versatile defensive barrier that can do more than just protect a user. All shields permit the use of the shield bash attack and the deflection counter. Small shields also allow the user to trap an opponents weapon arm in a grapple.
The Pavise and the Mantlet are specialty shields more kin to small mobile walls.
All sizes are for tiny size creatures. For larger sizes follow the link for changes in cost, protection, etc...
You can not use a shield larger than your size category as it becomes little more than a wobbly wall. Exceptions may be granted for the smaller shield shuch as the buckler, being used as a Rondache.
You can use shields 1 size category smaller than yourself, with adjustments to the straps and grips. But you gain no real benifit as the protection and health are lower than a shield for your size....although, in a pinch...

Helm Terms
- Type – type of helm
- Protection – protection vs all damage types
- Weight – Physical weight of the helm in pounds
- Health – amount of damage that the helm can take before becoming useless
- Cost – cost of the helm in gold.
Helms provide simple protection from head trauma like, daze, stun, and so on. You may only use helms for your size category. Largers ones are to loose and smaller ones will not fit. Even a helm in your size category may not fit as it may have been made for a race without the horns you have, or the head is oddly shapped.
Helms listed are for the tiny size category. For larger sizes follow the link for changes in cost, protection, etc..
