Appearance
The Griffon has a Lions body and a Eagles head, neck and wings. These are large flying predators with keen eyesight.
Attitude
Griffons live high in mountain aeries in family groups. These family groups maintain a range that the size of depends on the size of the family. They are renowned for their fearlessness in combat, strength and agility. Single young adult Griffons are known to be attracted to a mares (female horse) when they are in heat with the offspring being an Hippogriff (A horse with a eagles head, neck, forelimbs and wings). Griffons lay eggs which are highly prized and zealously guarded by one or both parents. When the eggs hatch a parent is only present part of the time as they are busy hunting for themselves and their young.
Leadership
Griffons mate for life and will only have one such mate. If the mate dies the surviving mate will stay widowed until death.
Encounter Tactics
They hunt from the sky where they can spot prey and swoop down upon it with a sudden strike. The strike often will break the neck or back of their target.
Encounter Count
1 Bachelor or Bachelorette
2 a Couple.
2 to 6 Family
Trainable
A Griffon can be trained but must be raised from a hatchling.
