Appearance
Albertosaurus is a sub-species of theropod tyrannosaurid. It is related to the Tyrannosaur Rex but much smaller. Like other tyrannosaurids the Albertosaurus has small almost useless forelimbs. It stands on two legs and has a massive head filled with large sharp teeth. A long tail helps keep the Albertosaurus balanced. The skin of the Albertosaurus is a sandy brown on the stomach and darkens on the back and head. Eye color is a usually golden brown with a dark brown boney crest above them. During mating season they turn red on males to attract a mate.
Attitude
When not hunting Albertosaurus are surprisingly docile, almost lazy. Although this maybe to conserve energy. Eggs, Infants and the young stay at one of a few dens scattered over the land they control and are watched over by a lone female mother/aunt while the pack hunts. When hunting starts the entire pack moves out with all adults and young adults. The young adults, as they are even faster (+2 land speed) than the adults, will be used to flush out any prey towards the waiting adults. The adults will wait in ambush positions and will even take advantage of natural land features such as a box canyon. Albertosaurus are apex predators and as such will not shy away from more civilized settlements and villages of other species unless they are walled and well protected. They will destroy poorly made structures to get at the occupants.
Leadership
All Albertosaurus packs are lead by a single large male that has a number of females he breeds with. Young adult males are driven off as soon as they are of breeding age. These young males become outcast without a pack or land and must survive until adulthood where they will challenge another male with a pack and defeat him. Although uncommon two male outcast have been know to work together and are often brothers. In these situations the brothers will both take the role of pack leader.
