Powers is a bit of a misnomer as the below list will include some rather mundane options like gore (horns). Adding these relatively simple features to your race will allow you to make it more distinct and they will give it an extra attack option. This is not to say, that a race can not be described with horns, its just they would not gain the benefit of using them in combat.
Activating power requires the expense of fatigue just like any other activity in the system. Although some powers will seam like spells, they do differ in one main area. They are bought up front and can not be modified. A spell can be woven at any level to increase damage, range, the saves, etc. A power though is on a set track at race creation and can not be changed.
I may include a set of rules to combine powers, like Adhesive and Soul Eater.
Terms UsedThe unit/character is called the user. When a Unit/Character uses a power they activate it by using fatigue points and then the power is applied by way of one or more attack types.
- Self – The user activates a power for themselves. There is no range or saves needed.
- Touch – The user must make physical contact with the target of the power.
- Bolt – The user makes a ranged attack. This attack can be blocked and has only one target.
- Wall – A ranged attack that has a defined start and end point and can not be blocked.
- Ray – a ranged attack that starts at the user and extends to the target. This attack can be blocked.
- Cone – a ranged attack like a ray but with a width at the target side.
- Puddle – This is a attack style that starts at your unit/characters location and spreads out from there by x number of spaces per round and last by n number of rounds. This can be blocked by getting inside a open container or avoided by getting above it.
- Fog – Like puddle but can not be blocked unless sealed in a air tight container.
- Cloud Like fog, but has a range.
- Gaze – An active power that requires the user and target to make eye contact. This does mean that blind creatures are immune to these effects.
- Presence – Like Gaze but does not require eye contact. Simply proximity to the user can trigger the savings throw.
- Adaptable - Ability to increasing reduce damage of a specific type with every hit you take
- Adhesive - You make a sticky material...think spider but it is not limited to spider silk
- Alternate Form - You can transform into another body; wolf, snake, bat, or some other creature.
- Amphibious - You can survive in water or land
- Aquatic - You breath water, not air
- Attach - You can physically connect yourself to another being.
- Augment Critical - Using natural weapons you can inflict better damage more often
- Aura - You can activate an aura around your body for various effect and/or damage
- Battle Rage - Durring combat you become very angry, focusing all your attacks at one target.
- Black Cloud - On activation a swirling cloud of dust, grit and litter surrounds you
- Blood Drain - You feast on the blood of others
- Breath Weapon - You exhale from your mouth an effect or damage upon your opponents
- Breathless - You do not breath and are immune to suffocation
- Chameleon - Your skin blends into its background
- Climate Slug - You exhaust easily in a select climate.
- Coil - For very long bodies, user can coil body underneath their main body.
- Constrict - You can squeeze an opponent to death.
- Critical Thinker - Your race can add new classes after you start the game.
- Death Throes - when your people die they do not leave and body and maybe even explode.
- Distance Runner - Your race can sustance a run much longer than others
- Distracting Appearance - Either beautiful or frightening your mere presence gives pause to others.
- Earth Walker - You can walk through earth
- Enslave - Dominate any single creature that you maintain contact with and control them like a puppet
- Farsighted - You can not focus well on near objects.
- Four-legged - Gain movement and a better encumberance value.
- Gaping Maw - You can open your mouth to an incredible size and swallow others closer to your size category
- Gaze - Using line of sight you can activate a number of effects
- Gore - You have natural horns that can do damage
- Immunity - reduce some or all of the damage of a specific type or ignore an effect
- Implant - Special attack that implants an object into the target.
- Insubstantial - Parts of your body undulate between physical and not granting a miss chance
- Insubstantial, Natural - All of your body is insubstatial and you fatigue to interact with the physical world
- Invisibility vision can not see you.
- Invisibility, Natural - You are normally invisible, to be seen is fatiguing
- Leach - Natural attacks drains fatigue
- Level Limit - Sell levels for population
- Light Blindness - day light blinds all visual senses
- Night Blindness - darkness blinds all visual senses
- Nearsighted - You can not see distant objects clearly.
- Poison - any of a number of damage or effects that your body produces as venom
- Quills - your body is covered in long spiney needs that can also have additonal damage or effects.
- Racial Levels - Limit class levels for more population
- Racial Power Levels - Advance selected powers over the base purchased. Increase is over racial levels only.
- Ray - Like a breath weapon but is only a ray and it originates from an alternate body part; hands, eyes, etc.
- Regeneration - You are hard to kill as your body will reform over time
- Resistance - A lessor form of immunity
- Rush (Land or Air) - A quick burst of speed.
- Scent - A heightened sense of smell.
- Scent, Blood - You can smell blood from a long distance.
- Sensory - a collection of different types of sensory inputs.
- Shifter - you can change shape into any being you desire.
- Skill Affinity - your people are predisposed to a skill and have a base set of levels.
- Slime - Your body produces a slick goo that makes standing difficult.
- Soul Eater - You consume the life force of others
- Stone Wall - You are difficult to knockdown
- Summon - Summon a natural creature
- Summon, Planar - Summon a creature from the planes
- Summon, Clone - Duplicate yourself
- Tail, Balance - Helps in staying balanced
- Tail, Damage - extra attack
- Unbound - can not be restrained
- Vocal - You make a noise that can have a number of effects
- Vulnerability - you have a weakness to some damage type or effect
- Weakness - a lessor form of vulnerability
- Wounding - using natural weapons you do continuing damage to a target that you have damaged already
