This is a page that is a kind of FAQ, but more suited to common questions on playing the game. I will add to this as more questions are asked....repeatedly.
...start a campaign?
The DM (and/or his play group) can create a Game World with their own mix of races. Once made, players then make characters based on those races and begin adventuring. This takes time, so be patient.
- Make as many race as you want. You may want to start with a few the players will base their characters
- Fill in a little background history between the playable races; wars, treaties, trade all add to the general "feelings" one race has about another.
- Create your cities, at least in name except for the city the player will start in. Starting cities should contain a few basic "starter adventures" and personal contacts. With a multi-racial world I find the cities that are/were trade hubs between kingdoms to be great starting locations.
...define a monster?
For this game monsters will be defined as any single or group of creatures that lack any social order over that of a pack, have limited to no understanding of tools and, of course feeds on your people....careful this may describe your neighbor too.
When making monsters use the race construction rules with limited root skills and only 1 or 2 "classes" at most. Mental abilities like Focus, Identity and Ego may be lower in animals, while more mentally apt monsters will have normal or higher scores (higher than base). Monster also live for the moment and rarely plan ahead...so no monster to-do list.
...grant experience?
I will be making an experience chart and general level advancement chart soon. To give you a heads up, the xp system is based on 100 points base value for creatures at your level, this is modified by their xp gain. Remember xp gain is something all creatures will have and reflects a percentage of the population spent on powers and enhancements. So a creature with a 50% xp gain is worth more experience as they are harder to kill (in theory). So a creature at your level with a 50% xp gain is worth 150 points. If a creature has levels below or above your level then the base value is adjusted by +/-10 points per level then the xp gain is added. When the experience points are granted you must further adjust the experience gained by your xp gain. If your race has a xp gain of 50% then you will only gain 75 point from the 150 encounter. Currently I do not plan on splitting experience points between party members, everyone gets the same.
...make magic items?
A formal set of rules will be added to detail this, but in a nut shell it requires time, a willing and often paid caster, and a crafter (weapon smith, armorer, etc..). for basic magic and the pricing. The availability of casters (and their cost) will determine if you want a high, medium or, low magic world. Balancing Spellcasters in a low magic world is tricky. You can add a material component to spells that is hard to acquire and/or make it outlawed with professional hunters.
